Book vs Film: Animals

Book. Because:

  • Tyler is toxic but bearable (in the film, the balance tips too far to toxic, with a strong jealousy vibe that doesn’t appear in the same way in the book).
  • Power shifts are subtle and more believable.
  • Leaves a little room for hope (the film, far less so).

Book here. Film here (on SBS OnDemand in Australia).

  1. I’ve read the book but not seen the film. I think I’d watch it if it was on TV but I remember when it came out and I wasn’t that tempted. Nice to see Holliday Grainger branching out a bit though! I enjoy her acting but I’ve seen her in generally similar roles.
