I’m waiting for… 2021 edition

Proving that I don’t actually care about my never-really-shrinking-TBR-list is this list of new releases that are on my radar for 2021.

For the superb covers alone…

We Run the Tides by Vendela Vida
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Good Company by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

From authors I’ve read (and loved) before:

Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead
World Travel by Anthony Bourdain
My Inner Sky by Mari Andrew
My Phantoms by Gwendoline Riley
Animal by Lisa Taddeo
The Believer by Sarah Krasnostein
Unsettled Ground by Claire Fuller

For something light (and funny/ thrilling):

Long Island Compromise by Taffy Brodesser-Akner
Did I Say That Out Loud? by Kristin van Ogtrop
The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz
Dark Horses by Susan Mihalic

The topic grabs me:

The Recent East by Thomas Grattan
No One Is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood
Second Place by Rachel Cusk
Bright Burning Things by Lisa Harding

Nonfiction/ Memoir:

Inner Life by Charlotte Wood
My Year of Living Vulnerably by Rick Morton
A Lie Someone Told You About Yourself by Peter Ho Davies
Brains by Bri Lee
Eating With My Mouth Open by Sam van Zweden
The Secret to Superhuman Strength by Alison Bechdel
Beginners by Tom Vanderbilt

More from Australian authors:

Scary Monsters by Michelle de Kretser
7 1/2 by Christos Tsiolkas
One Hundred Days by Alice Pung
Menagerie by Emily Bitto
The Performance by Claire Thomas
The Truth About Her by Jacqueline Maley
Bodies of Light by Jennifer Down

And lastly, do I have the strength for a Franzen trilogy…? It begins with A Key to All Mythologies: Crosswords.

  1. Eek, I have read this from behind the sofa – I have soooo many books to catch up on from 2020. But who can resist such tempting titles…!!

  2. A new novel from Maggie Shipstead, at last?!? You’ve made my day! I’m also keen on the Bechdel (which I hadn’t heard about), as well as the Davies (a novel?), Franzen, Krasnostein and Lockwood, which were already on my radar.
