Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye. These three need no explanation – I’ve loved books by all thee authors in the past.
Actress by Anne Enright
Summary: Norah retraces her mother’s celebrated career as an actress, and in doing so, delves into long-kept secrets.
I’m thinking: Yes – can I get it read before MWF?
You Be Mother by Meg Mason
Summary: All Abi ever wanted was a proper family, so when she falls pregnant by an Australian exchange student in London, she cannot wait to start life in Sydney – only Stu is not ready to be a father after all.
I’m thinking: Maybe – not quite as astute as the extraordinarily good Sorrow & Bliss (review to come).
The Need by Helen Phillips
Summary: When Molly, home alone with her two young children, hears footsteps in the living room, she tries to convince herself it’s the sleep deprivation. When she finds herself face-to-face with an intruder who knows far too much about her family, Molly slips down an existential rabbit hole.
I’m thinking: Yes – the first chapter hooked me.
I haven’t read Actress yet, but yes, I have ambitions to read it before the MWF:)
Actress does sound good!
Actress is a definite for me.
Hmmm… I am an Enright fan but I wasn’t much impressed by Actress.
I liked Actress, but not as much as others I’ve read of hers. It’s a quick read, so I’m sure you’ll get to it in time.
