It’s time for #6degrees. Start at the same place as other wonderful readers, add six books, and see where you end up.
This month we begin with the children’s classic, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak (thanks to Sue at Whispering Gums for this suggestion).
My first link is to Dave Eggers’s take on the Sendak classic – The Wild Things.
I first read Eggers way back in 2000, when he released A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. My memory of the book was that it lived up to its title in every way, and it’s one that I have considered re-reading… but will it be as good the second time around?
In the same category is Donna Tartt’s The Secret History. I devoured it in 1992 – would it hold up a second time?
My next link is to Donna Tartt’s last book, The Goldfinch. I loved it and I can’t wait to see the movie.
Another book that I’ve read that has recently been made into a movie is The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty. The book fell flat for me but I think it would make a terrific film.
And to continue the book-to-film links, I’ve had The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook in my TBR stack for ages – if only I’d read it before the sumptuous looking film.
