Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye.
Acts of Infidelity by Lena Andersson
Why I have it: Spotted Susan’s review (and I loved Wilful Disregard).
Summary: Ester meets Olof – there’s an immediate connection. Olof makes no secret of being married, but he and Ester nevertheless start to meet regularly. Years go by and Ester realises she has become a mistress.
I’m thinking: Yes – Andersson creates complicated emotional entanglements out of the simplest situations.
When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger
Why I have it: Spotted on the How Sweet Eats summer reading list.
Summary: Third book in the The Devil Wears Prada series.
I’m thinking: No. Didn’t make it past page one because of the multitude of pop-culture-name-drops.
I’ll Be There For You by Kelsey Miller
Why I have it: No idea but Friends brings back fun nineties memories.
Summary: A critical analysis of Friends, looking at how a sitcom about six twenty-somethings dominated television (“…and proved itself as something more than a bubbly, blond Seinfeld.“)
I’m thinking: No – the writing is good and I loved Friends at the time but I’m not watching re-runs.
Don’t say no to Friends!!! Come see my review! 🙃🙈📚
Here is Orange County Readers review – https://orangecountyreaders.com/2019/01/11/book-review-ill-be-there-for-you-the-one-about-friends-by-kelsey-miller/ it might have convinced me to change my mind 😀
Thanks for the link, Kate. Hope you enjoy it!
The first one sounds interesting – its a tricky subject to get right. The other two are definitely not for me so I fully support your decisions 😉
How admirably succinct you are with your decision making. I must learn from this.
It’s just the first stage in the selection process but does save me from lots of poor choices!
