A Year of Sample Saturdays 2018

I’ve read 93 Kindle samples this year – downloading sample chapters is better than impulse buying books… I think. Of the 93 I’ve read, I’ve said ‘yes’ to 44. Of those that I’ve said yes to, five I now own and one I’ve read.

However, if I buy the remaining 38 books, it destroys the miniscule gains I’ve made on reducing the TBR stack this year. So, I’ve narrowed it down to 15 that I’m busting to read –

First Love by Gwendoline Riley
The Reading Cure by Laura Freeman
Motherest by Kristen Iskandrian
Eggshells by Caitriona Lally
Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood
Ma’am Darling: 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret by Craig Brown
The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman
My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
Neon in Daylight by Hermione Hoby
The Recovering: Intoxication and Its Aftermath by Leslie Jamison
Rosie: Scenes From a Vanished Life by Rose Tremain
Waterlog by Roger Deakin

I did the same review last year and in 2016. I still haven’t read all of the books on those lists but at least they give my wishlist some bulk!

  1. I’ve not read any of these but heard great things about many so I’m sure you’ve made wise choices! I’ve also made minimal inroads into the TBR this year so I admire your restraint – I’m hoping 2019 will see me reduce the pile much more significantly…
