Book vs. Film: A Man Called Ove

Tie. Both were brilliant.

  • They got Ove exactly right in the movie – just as I imagined him. And at the precise moment when I was thinking that the movie producers made him too disagreeable, there would be a little something to warm your heart.
  • I cried for vast amounts of the movie (I cried in the book as well but the flashback scenes in the movie were poignant).

Book here, film here.

  1. Kate…I totally agree with you. The novel and movie both moved me; and, the movie’s screenwriter and casting director were spot-on in recreating Backman’s Ove. So, while you were shedding tears in the Southern Hemisphere, mine were raining down in the North.
