Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye.
Electricity by Ray Robinson
Why I have it: Spotted in Annabel’s #6Degrees chain.
Summary: Life’s not easy for Lily but she gets by. Needing no-one, asking for nothing, just her and her constant companion – epilepsy. But then her mother — who Lily’s not seen for years — dies, and everything changes in Lily’s world.
I’m thinking: Maybe – interesting style.
The Last One by Alexandra Oliva
Why I have it: Spotted on one of the lists.
Summary: A survival-in-the-woods-reality tv game turns ‘real’.
I’m thinking: No. Hunger Games rip-off?
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Why I have it: Because both Madame Bibi and Elle said it was one of their favourites in the same week.
Summary: A coming-of-age novel set in a crumbling castle in the middle of nowhere.
I’m thinking: Yes – a classic I’ve somehow missed.
Thanks for the link 🙂 You absolutely *have* to read I Capture the Castle – it’s completely wonderful!
I’m getting a bit of a ‘The Durrels’ meets ‘Darling Buds of May’ vibe. Yes?
I’ve not read either of those so I can’t help I’m afraid!
I have read so much good about I Capture the Castle I picked it up when I saw it in an Op shop. It is on my shelf and your post reminded me I need to put it on the stack (my skyscraper stack).
I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for it at the op-shop but suspect I’ll cave and buy it!
Electricity sounds kinda interesting. I hadn’t heard of it before.
Yes, caught my eye because of the different topic.
I also missed reading I Capture the Castle when I was younger! Still on my TBR so one day. 🙂
Where WERE we all hiding when all the other readers were devouring I Capture the Castle?!
