01. Bruce last week at Hanging Rock. It was a perfect night.
02. I saw Manchester by the Sea this week. It’s very sad. Not in a sudden, shocking way but in a low-grade-two-and-a-half-hours-long way. Related: the soundtrack is superb.
03. So many movies (from books) coming out that I didn’t know about until now – Alias Grace, The Dinner, Tulip Fever, The Circle and The Sense of an Ending.
04. It’s still summer but pre-season training for all of the kids’ winter sports (football, soccer, cross-country and lacrosse) starts next week… *sigh*
05. I’m not even joking when I say I’m going on an interstate gin tour this weekend… *hooray!*
06. This blog about the colours favoured in particular movies.
Bookish Thoughts is hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous. Pop by, say hi.
That photo is AMAZING!
Thanks! (It was a great cloud-spotting night).
Manchester by the Sea is quietly devastating isn’t it. That scene where what has happened to Casey Affleck’s character becomes clear will stay with me for some time.
Same. And the scene in the police station was devastating. Great acting.
RE: the Manchester By The Sea soundtrack, is it an instrumental score or is it songs? I’m always looking for snazzy soundtrack music to add to my reading/writing/creating playlist.
That colour blog is incredible. Definitely going to come in handy! Thank you for linking to it!
The soundtrack is instrumental and impressive because was used in place of dialogue to great effect.
I will definitely be checking it out in that case!
I can’t believe The Dinner is going to be a movie – that one definitely has me curious!
Let’s hope they get the casting right.
A gin tour? Is that what I think it is? My husband loves a fine gin…unfortunately I do not! But…enjoy!
Ha! And yes… When I first told people I was going on a gin tour they said “Gym tour…?” Clearly they don’t know me very well. 😉
Oh, wow, The Dinner as a movie sounds so good! Richard Gere….awesome. I think this will be a case of loving the movie more than the book.
I also want to see Manchester by the Sea.
Thanks for sharing, and here’s MY BOOKISH/NOT SO BOOKISH POST
I love Richard Gere but I do wonder if he’ll be ‘unhinged’ enough for either of the male roles??
That colour blog is incredible. And a gin tour?! I highly approve.
The gin tour was so much fun that I’ll write a show-off post. Stay tuned!
Am keen to see Manchester by the Sea… am fairly sure I’ll miss it at the movies though. Not sure why I just don’t get my act together and go!
My brother went to see Bruce. He is a HUGE fan. He went in 1985 and I was supposed to go as well but sold my ticket at the last minute as I had just started Uni and was worried about an exam! I’ve always regretted it!
Manchester has been nominated for a few Academy Awards so it probably means it will get a long run at the movies.
Funny you remember the circumstances around NOT seeing Bruce – do you recall how you went in the exam?!
I didn’t much care for Eggers The Circle but the movie trailer looks fantastic! Will definitely be watching that.
