Why I have it: There seemed to be a lot of noise about this book around the time my book-buying-ban started.

Summary: A film maker exploits the lives of those around her (and says it’s art).

I’m thinking: Yes – the opening chapter completely sucked me in.

Accidents in the Home by Tessa Hadley

Why I have it: It was recommended here.

Summary: Clare leads an ordinary, suburban life. And then she starts thinking about getting it on with her best friend’s lover. Cue emotional chaos.

I’m thinking: Maybe – suspect Clare will shit me.

My Own Dear Brother by Holly Müller

Why I have it: I’m always interested in WWII stories written from the German perspective.

Summary: Thirteen-year-old Ursula lives in a small village in Nazi-controlled Austria. Her father is missing, her mother is having an affair with a married man and her brother joins the Hitler Youth. Ursula is no longer sure who is the enemy.

I’m thinking: No, the writing style didn’t win me.
