For a relatively long book, this is a very short review of Amor Towles‘ Rules of Civility.
Rules of Civility is a love letter to New York city, to the Jazz Age, to the year 1938. I suspect it’s also Towles’ love letter to F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I thoroughly enjoyed every lush, carefully constructed sentence.
Dare I leave it at that? Yes.
4/5 Every word is a Big-Apple-Art-Deco treat.
Glad to see that you liked this one! It’s waiting for me on my e-reader.
It truly is ‘comfort reading’ – lots happens and there are certainly plot twists but it unfolds at a gentle pace. Enjoy.
I’ve heard so much about this book just in the past week. Downloading it now. Thanks for a succinct thumbs up.
Hope you enjoy it – at least my review doesn’t give anything away 😉
Your review may have been short, but you perfectly summed up all of the reasons why I loved this book too 🙂
Thanks! Apparently there’s a movie on the way – I’m sure it will be spectacular.

Great review – I can never manage to be so succinct! And beautiful photos 🙂
Isn’t the one of the sun coming through the windows at Grand Central amazing?!
Gorgeous!
